The workshop saw the participation of different key stakeholders from the universities of Castilla y León. The objective was to present the current scenario of the Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) in Spain and discuss the role that the universities should play in it.
During the workshop, the speakers highlighted the processes and legal issues that public procurers must take into account when initiating a PPI. Moreover, the workshop reviewed the range of financing alternatives available in Spain and Europe for PPI and stressed the key role that it can play as a means for improving public services while fostering private R&D.
In the last part of the workshop, SILO presented a selection of case studies showing how different organizations have effectively used this innovative modality to perform their public purchases.
